Nieuwe Morgen - Willy Ceysens

Meerlaan/Eeuwfeestlaan

About the artwork

The three copper and concrete sculptures depict birds and were originally designed as fountains. However, these were never used for this purpose. The works range from 90 to 130 cm in height.

About the artist

A trained goldsmith, the artist predominantly produces ecclesiastical art and jewellery, while also creating borderline mythical metal figurines that are often, but not always, inspired by religion. For him, simplicity is both 'the conscious pursuit of the soul and the meaning of life'. In summarising his oeuvre, he asserts that 'a sculpture is a visual expression that communicates an idea without limitation in a high-quality execution.'
